Keep You and Your Babies Skin Hydrated

by Jess Chamberlain

Keeping your skin healthy and moisturized while pregnant is very important. It is also very important to keep your baby's skin moisturized with lotion and spf to prevent sunburn but also pay attention to their little bottoms so you can help prevent diaper rash.

When I was pregnant with my son I remember being worried about everything...Am I doing this right? Eating enough? Eating too much? Drinking enough water? Etc. I also remember having a shallow concern...will I get those horrible, dreaded stretch marks (also called striae gravidarum) ???? I knew it was a possibility and if it was meant to be it was meant to be but there were things I could do to help prevent them.

• Gain enough weight to have a safe pregnancy but not too much because my skin would "stretch"
• Make sure to stay hydrated
• Make sure to use lotion on my belly, hips, thighs, breasts and butt morning, noon and night. The cream I used and loved was Bella Mama Belly Butter.

Don't worry if you get stretch marks. They will be ugly at first due to the pink or reddish pigment but they will eventually fade and they are worth it in the end.

SPF for your Babies and Kids
As you know your child's skin is very sensitive to the suns rays when they are young. I always put lotion on my son in the morning if I know we will be heading out to shop or play in the sun. I keep the lotion in my diaper bag and a small travel tube in my purse to always make sure that I am prepared so he never gets burned.

Diaper Rash:
Diaper rash is very uncomfortable for kids. They become fussy due to the itchy, stinging and/or burning small red bumps on their skin.

Here are tips for Preventing or Dealing with Diaper Rash:
• Put cool clothes on your baby. Heat rashes are often caused by tight, warm clothing. If the weather is hot let your child wear loose-fitting clothes that breathe. Cotton clothes are the best.
• Change your babies diaper frequently. The combination or warmth and moisture (urine) is dangerous to a babies a skin. It will trigger the onset of bacteria which will develop into a diaper rash.
• Use mild soaps on your baby that are made for babies. Do not use regular soaps that you would use on your own skin because they are too harsh for babies sensitive skin. Your child can also develop a rash from having skin that is too dry.

Tips On How To Solve A Baby Sleep Problem

by Quinton van Oudtshoorn

An essential basis for a child's future health and development is good quality sleep. It can be torture for a parent when their baby is crying because she can't go to sleep, but having the baby in a sleep routine and seeing them happy is a pleasure hardly measurable.

A very important step in solving a baby's sleep problem is to teach them to get into a regular, fuss-free, sleep routine.

You should seriously considering establishing some sort of bedtime routine for you baby if you haven't done so yet. Your baby will more than likely sleep through the night, be more content and happier if you stick to a routine and establish a sleeping pattern.

Read the tips below to find out several things you could do to establish a bedtime routine for your baby:

Most of us have some kind of winding down routine before we go to sleep and this should be no different for your baby. Perhaps the sleep routine could begin with a bath, followed by a slow dimming of the lights (so they realise it is getting near to sleep time), then a change of nappy or diaper, putting them in the crib or cot and finishing with a bedtime story or lullaby.

You don't need to follow the above routine to the letter, you may wish to do it in a different order, or have a different routine entirely, but the important thing is that you create a baby sleep routine that you follow night after night after night until it becomes a habit for your child.

Whenever you begin this routine, your baby will know that sleep is expected to follow. Babies and infants are creatures of habit, they enjoy the predictability of a sleep ritual and so a regular routine like this can help settle your baby more quickly and also increase the chances of him or her sleeping through the night.

Providing a routine and the same sleep environment each time is crucial to providing the ideal scenario for restful baby sleep.

Remember that you should start your baby's bedtime routine in her early weeks of life. It is crucial that you start earlier rather that later, but if your baby is older, you should start to get her into a bedtime routine as soon as possible.

If you alread have some type of sleeping routine created for your baby but she's still having baby sleep problems, you should take a closer look at the bedtime routine that you have created for her and see if you can improve it. It might be something in the routine that your baby doesn't like or she doesn't like the routine at all. It might also be that you are not consistent enough with the bedtime routine and that consistency needs improvement.

Babies need sleep right through the day and by creating a daily naptime routine will also help your baby to sleep at night time.
